At a live event in Tokyo, Sony on Thursday unveiled what many had come to call the PlayStation Portable 2, its long-awaited, all-new handheld video game console. CEO Steve Jobs is taking his second medical leave of absence in two years, raising questions if Jobs pancreatic cancer that had reportedly been cured back in 2004 has returned. It’s unknown whether Jobs’ current medical condition is related to the cancer or if it is something less serious.
Apple this week released a beta version of its next mobile operating system, iOS 4.3, for app developers. Wired got an early look at the OS, which has not been released to the public yet. Among a pile of minor interface modifications, there are a few major new features. Some new multitouch-gesture controls on the iPad are the best part.
It's definitely something to look forward to when iOS 4.3 officially ships. (Apple has not disclosed a release date). The rest of the changes Wired reported were interface-related — modifications to the iPad keyboard and the iOS multitasking tray, a new notebook font and more.

I have heard from credible sources that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next "3-4 weeks", around or on Tuesday February 1st. The iPad 2 will have a higher dpi screen and front/back cameras.
Microsoft Corparation sold more than 8 million of its Xbox Kinect motion-sensing game system in its first 60 days since launch! outpacing its target of 5 million and outshining Sony Corp's competing "Move". Sony's Move costs only $50, when Microsoft's Kinect costs $150.
In another patent campaign, Microsoft's lawyers have been busy filing legal briefs against mobile hardware vendor Motorola. Microsoft filed suit against Motorola in November over an alleged breach-of-contract related to the licensing terms of the disputed patents.Microsoft and Motorola are also engaged in a legal spat over alleged patent infringement with Motorola's use of Android. Microsoft alleges that Motorola's use of Android technology infringes on nine of its patents.

Facebook has raised 500 million euros from US investment bank Goldman Sachs and a Russian investor that values the popular social networking sight at 50 billion dollars, the New York Times reported on Monday.
The investment puts the value of Facebook at higher than fellow Internet companies eBay and Yahoo! as well as media company Time Warner, the newspaper said citing sources familiar with the deal.
The funds will give Facebook added resources to develop new resources, make acquisitions and lure away top employees as it increasingly competes more directly with Internet search giant Google.

Google has just participated in a seed round for Miso Media, an iPhone and iPad app maker whose product hasn't yet launched in the iTunes App Store.
